IT and STEM fields Can Make Their Dream of Working Abroad a Reality

The Czech Republic’s Digital Nomad Visa targets remote workers, particularly those in the IT, Marketing Specialists and STEM fields. This visa allows eligible individuals to reside in the country for up to three years, with the initial visa valid for one year and renewable as a residence permit for an additional two years.  

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the Czech Digital Nomad Visa, applicants must meet the following requirements: 

  • Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of one of the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Israel, Singapore, Northern Ireland,  or Republic of Korea. 
  • Employment Status: Applicants should be remote employees working for a company with at least 50 employees or be freelancers.  
  • Field of Work: The visa is specifically for individuals employed in the IT, Marketing Specialist, or STEM sectors.  
  • Income Requirement: Applicants must demonstrate a monthly income of at least $2,730, which is 1.5 times the national minimum wage in the Czech Republic.  
  • Educational Qualifications: Applicants should hold a degree in IT, Marketing Specialist or STEM from an accredited university. Alternatively, if they lack a degree, they must have at least three years of industry experience in their fields.  
  • Health Insurance: Applicants must have international health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay.  
  • Criminal Record: A clean criminal background is required.  

Application Process:

  1. Document Preparation: Gather necessary documents at contact a professional to complete the application, including a valid passport, passport photos, certified criminal background check, international health insurance policy, proof of relationship to dependents (if applicable), and employment or freelance documentation.   
  2. Visa Appointment: Allow Prague Visas to advise you on getting an appointment at a Czech embassy or consulate in your country of residence to submit your application and documents.  
  3. Application Submission: We can prepare the entire package for you to submit your application. 
  4. Wait for Approval: The processing time is typically around 45 days.  
  5. Registration in the Czech Republic: Upon arrival, register your place of accommodation with the local Police of the Czech Republic within three days.  

Family Members:

Applicants can include immediate family members in their applications. However, spouses and dependents are not permitted to seek local employment during their stay, unless they file for the their proper visa type.

Additional Information: Previously, the Czech Republic offered a freelance visa (Zivno visa) for freelancers establishing a business in the country and serving local clients. The Digital Nomad Visa expands opportunities for remote workers to relocate to the Czech Republic.
