Gaining Czech Citizenship
There are multiple ways to gain Czech citizenship and subsequently, obtain a Czech passport. We focus on three of these pathways: Naturalisation, Citizenship by Descent and Regaining Czech citizenship, but can help with any other pathway as well.
The main options
Your path to Czech citizenship is usually quite clear, based on your and your family's history.
Naturalisation
Pathway for long term residents, who wish to obtain citizenship. You need to meet the governmental requirements on your duration of stay, pass the exams and provide a wide range of documentation.
Regaining Czech citizenship
Pathway for former Czech or Czechoslovakian citizens, who lost their citizenship for a variety of reasons. This pathway focuses on providing the appropriate documentation and filing your application through the designated office.
Citizenship by descent
This pathway covers a range of options for people whose ancestors were citizens of Czechoslovakia or Czechia. Some people may find out that they are currently Czech citizens and they don't even know it. The work we will do together will focus on proving everything to the Czech government and reclaiming your Czech roots.
What we do, on any of the three
The pathways differ in what they have to prove. The work of proving it is largely the same, and it is one price whichever route you are on.
On every case:
- Document guidance and preparation
- Obtaining notarised translations and certified copies
- Application packet preparation
Optional services
- Filing your application on your behalf
- Obtaining Czech versions of vital documents
One price, whichever pathway
Package price (starting from):
12,700 CZK
Mandatory VAT when applicable
Who handles what
Two sites, one practice. Which one you deal with depends on the pathway, not on who you speak to: it is the same people either way.

FAQ
My grandmother was Czechoslovakian. Am I eligible for citizenship?
There is no way to answer that from one fact. It depends on when she left, what happened to her citizenship afterwards, whether the line runs through your mother or your father, and what the records actually say. Book an appointment and we will go through it with you.
Do I have to give up my current citizenship?
The Czech Republic has allowed dual citizenship since 2014. Whether your own country allows it is a question for them, and worth checking before you file.
Do my student years count towards naturalisation?
Partly, and the rules differ by permit type. Working out what your years actually count for is the first thing we do.
